Curriculum
Our curriculum is geared toward our targeted age group, but can easily be adapted to engage any child in attendance. On a given Sunday, parents can expect their children to participate in any number of participatory learning modes: singing, crafts, games, interacting with a special guest, puppet shows, charades, movement or drama. We believe these activities help draw children into a world that will teach them about God and His love for them, and we know kids learn a lot more when they are engaged in the learning process, and not just sitting still listening!
Examples of past curriculum focus topics include the "Fruits of the Spirit," when we explored how these characteristics -- love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, kindness and self-control -- can make us happier and better friends to those around us; "Stories of Jesus," which highlighted the stories, or parables, Jesus used to call his listeners to a higher level of living and loving; and "extreme sayings" of our Teacher, Jesus Christ - like "forgive everyone!" and "love your enemies!"
Each week we will send home (with your little one) a "homework" sheet which offers an opportunity for parents and children to revisit the topic discussed on the previous Sunday.
If you have any questions or require additional information about a lesson topic, or perhaps about other Bible or God questions your child has asked you, please ask! We'll be happy to have a discussion and, if helpful, direct you to other resources. (Maybe YOU have a Bible or God question! Let's talk about those, too!)
